Art in the Shop: "New Moon"
This stunning fused glass bowl by Malcom Potek captures the essence of a serene lunar landscape, blending subtle textures and hues reminiscent of a moonlit night.
Cast and fused with delicate precision, this piece evokes the mystique of a new moon’s glow, perfect as a centerpiece or a decorative art piece.
With only 12 crafted, it’s as rare as a sighting of the first lunar sliver in the sky, an exquisite homage to the beauty of the night.
Artist in The World: Jeremy Sinkus
Jeremy Sinkus is an innovative glass artist whose work draws inspiration from geological and aquatic elements. He transforms the natural beauty of minerals, fossils, and crystals into intricate glass sculptures that evoke a sense of permanence and tranquility. His creations range from elegant wall panels to "artisan-made gemstones" that merge art with geological wonders, capturing the essence of nature’s crystal formations.

Part of Jeremy's "Vesicular" series, "Coastal" captures the meeting of land and sea. Here, blue frothy sea foam contrasts with hot sand, with amber transparency and coarse blue textures playing opposite roles. The polished transparency reveals an interplay of bubbles, evoking a complete sense of the shore. Cast in soda lime glass, carved and polished in Jeremy Sinkus's hydroelectric-powered studio in western Massachusetts.
In "Flow-dech", movement and evolution are captured in this moment, while the stone holds a memory of the past, unchanging. Rugged forms blend with flowing energy, encasing a glowing dodecahedron garnet of uranium glass that radiates brightly under ultraviolet light.
In Jeremy Sinkus's Vesicular series, he explores the interplay between fluidity and solidity, akin to aquatic movement and stone. The forms reflect a contrast between rough, unpredictable surfaces and smooth, polished clarity, capturing the imperfections and perfection inherent in natural processes. The vesicular shapes evoke bubbling lava, creating an abstract yet familiar visual language that symbolizes life's contrasting moments: turbulent yet beautiful.
