Potekglass works with homeowners, architects, designers, and artists to develop glasswork that is thoughtfully designed for its setting. We can work from an existing design or collaborate with you to refine the concept, explore color and materials, select the right glass, and determine the techniques best suited to the project.
With more than 30 years of experience working with glass, we bring both creative and technical expertise to every project; from the first conversation through to the final installation.
Every custom project is different. Some begin with a finished design, while others begin with a conversation and a blank page. Our process adapts to where you are, helping develop the idea, materials, and fabrication requirements based on your unique project.
Step 1 : Start a Conversation
Every project starts somewhere.
Tell us what you’re imagining, whether you have a finished design, a rough sketch, reference images, or simply an idea you’d like to explore. Share whatever you have, along with any information you know about the project, its setting, and your goals.
We’ll talk through the possibilities, answer initial questions, and determine whether Potekglass is the right fit. From there, we’ll outline potential next steps and provide a preliminary estimate when we have enough information to assess the scope of the project.
Step 2 : Explore & Develop
This is where an idea begins to take shape.
Depending on the project, we can work from an existing design or collaborate with you to develop the concept. We’ll explore the qualities that make glass unique—including color, texture, transparency, light, and pattern—and help determine which materials and techniques best serve the design.
This may include sketches, design refinements, color studies, glass selection, samples, and discussions about scale, proportion, and fabrication.
Step 3 : Design & Approval
Once the direction is established, we’ll develop the project into a clear plan for fabrication.
Depending on the scope, this may include revised drawings, schematic design, color studies, glass samples, technical details, and a final cartoon. We’ll review the design and materials with you and make any necessary refinements before moving into fabrication.
Once the scope of work and design are approved, we’ll finalize the project agreement and collect the required deposit.
Step 4 : Fabrication
With the design approved, our team brings the project to life in the Potekglass studio.
From stained glass and leaded construction to glass painting, kilnforming, flameworking, and other specialized techniques, we select the processes and materials that best suit each project. Because design and fabrication happen under the same roof, we can pay close attention to the unique qualities of the glass throughout the making process.
Step 5 : Installation
The final step is bringing the finished work into its intended setting.
We’ll coordinate delivery and installation according to the needs of the project, working with you and other members of the project team when appropriate. From a residential window to a larger architectural installation, our goal is to ensure the finished work is carefully installed and ready to be enjoyed.

We regularly collaborate with architects, interior designers, artists, and other design professionals to create custom glass for residential, commercial, and architectural projects. We can work from an established design or help develop the concept, tailoring our involvement to the needs of each project.
