January 2020 – Art, Classes, and Creative Community

This January, Potekglass celebrates creativity with exciting art installations, new classes, and ongoing projects. From a unique Artist in Residence project to upcoming glass classes and a fresh collection of kiln-formed pendants, Potekglass offers something for everyone. Join us as we begin the year with art, inspiration, and learning opportunities.

Art in the Shop: Achieve Language Academy – Respect: Friendship Artist in Residence Project
We are thrilled to present the culmination of the Achieve Language Academy Artist in Residence Project, where 3rd-grade students, led by Cindy Videen and Elizabeth Brandt, have helped design and execute a piece inspired by Lake Superior. Titled Respect: Friendship, this work features the union of old-growth Hemlock and Maple trees. The piece encourages viewers to reflect on the deep connection between respect and friendship, inspired by the students' involvement in the creative process.

Art in the World: Dinah and Patty Hulet
What makes an object collectible? The pieces created by Dinah and Patty Hulet answer this question with their hyperrealistic glass confections. Their work, characterized by rococo decadence, has captivated collectors and art enthusiasts alike. Since 2005, their sweet creations have become treasured items in collections worldwide, with some pieces evoking the elegance and sentimentality of historical figures like Marie Antoinette.
