Art, Classes, and Community Engagement

March is off to a great start at Potekglass with exciting art projects, new classes, and a celebration of creativity in our community. From the Achieve Language Academy Artist in Residence project to exclusive Bullseye Glass discounts, there's much to explore at our studio this month!

Art in the Shop: Achieve Language Academy – Respect: Friendship
We are thrilled to unveil the Respect: Friendship Artist in Residence project, a collaboration with the 3rd graders of Achieve Language Academy. Under the guidance of Malcom Potek and supported by teachers Ms. Videen and Ms. Brandt, the students worked hard to design and create an intricate piece reflecting their understanding of the deep connection between respect and friendship. This project exemplifies the power of art to shape how we move through the world, and we are so proud of the students' dedication and creativity. Art in the World: Nadege Desgenetez
In the world of glass art, Nadege Desgenetez stands out with her unapologetic, physical, and mental approach to the craft. Having shared meals and conversations with Nadege at a Bullseye Glass retreat in Portland, Malcom was inspired by her work, which explores the body, landscapes, and the delicate process of glassblowing. Nadege's commitment to the glass-blowing process is evident in every piece, with the material responding to the artist’s movements through breath and touch. Currently based in Australia, Nadege continues to teach and create beautiful works that embody the fluidity of both the medium and the artist’s mind.

Upcoming Classes at Potekglass
Get ready for these exciting glass classes designed for all skill levels:

• Goldstone! Forged of Fire and Water (Date TBD)
  This intermediate-level torchwork class will teach you how to create frit from large chunks of glass and work with it to create intricate barrel-shaped beads. Participants will leave with their own goldstone frit and cane. Note: Previous experience with hot glass or a Try-iT session is required.
