Created for a residential client, Cardinal in the Woods was designed to transform an existing window in a north-facing living room. The original window left the space feeling dark, so the goal of the new work was to bring more natural light into the room while adding a sense of warmth and character.

The woodland scene draws inspiration from the whimsical, storybook stained glass landscapes of the Witte Brothers, with the glass selected in part for its ability to transmit and reflect light throughout the space. The result is a window that balances the feeling of a wooded landscape with the practical purpose of brightening the room.

The client also had a special request: to include a cardinal within the scene. We incorporated the bird as a small painted detail, giving the composition a subtle focal point and a personal touch.

Measuring 46 × 19 inches, Cardinal in the Woods brings together natural light, landscape, and a small moment of personality to create a window that feels both decorative and deeply connected to its setting.
