Design: Potekglass
Fabrication: Potekglass
Sector: Commercial
Technique: Kilnformed
In 2016, Malcom was commissioned by Osceola Medical Center to create a site-specific work for its newly constructed facility. Having grown up in the Osceola community, the commission held particular significance and offered an opportunity to create something rooted in the history and character of the place.
The medical center’s original facility was built along the St. Croix River, with commanding views of the surrounding valley. That landscape became the inspiration for Voyaguers. The work seeks to capture the feeling of the river and the layers of history embedded in its surrounding landscape.

Measuring 72 × 58 inches, Voyaguers was kiln-formed in sections and assembled within a custom steel framework. Installed in early 2018, the piece remains a centerpiece of the building’s entrance, connecting the contemporary space to the landscape and history of the community it serves.
Additional photographs document the fabrication and installation process.
