Created for a residential client, Orbits began with a collection of sketches, ideas, and color references that the client brought to Potekglass. We worked together to refine those ideas into a final design, developing the composition while selecting glass colors and textures that best supported the finished work. The existing door panel was brought into the shop so we could take precise measurements and ensure a proper fit before installation in the client’s home.

The design draws inspiration from celestial bodies and the intersecting paths of their orbits. At its heart is an idea about the people and experiences that move through our lives. The composition reflects these moments of connection, movement, and convergence through its layered circular forms.

An unusual structural detail became part of the design itself. A section of rebar was carefully bent to follow the existing composition, providing structural support while working naturally within the visual language of the piece. Orbits also incorporates several handmade glass jewels, adding points of color and dimension to the composition.

Orbits brings together celestial imagery, personal symbolism, and thoughtful structural problem-solving to create a piece that feels both dynamic and intimate within its residential setting.
